2025/26 Summer Season Information
Welcome to the 2025/26 GCJBL Summer Season with HEAT Basketball Club. We are looking forward to an exciting season. Hopefully you are aware that the structure of the summer season is changing significantly moving forward. Therefore, it is imperative that you read ALL information below before registering your child/ren. Link to register is provided at the end of information.
Heat Basketball Club is operated by dedicated volunteers. We appreciate your patience and will endeavour to respond to your enquiries promptly.
Any queries should be directed to the club via email: [email protected]
IMPORTANT
We want to ensure Heat Basketball continues to provide a high quality basketball experience for our members and to do this, our registration numbers will be capped due to limits on training spaces, coach availability and club personnel capacity. The club plans to accommodate a similar number of teams as the Winter 2025 season.
Registrations are open to both existing and new players. To guarantee your spot in a team, you are encouraged to register as soon as possible. Do not delay your registration as you risk missing out.
GCJBL INFORMATION
The Gold Coast Junior Basketball League (GCJBL) is the premier junior basketball competition on the Gold Coast. It provides a fun, competitive, and inclusive environment for players to develop their basketball skills.
Competition Format
The Summer Season includes:
- Grading Carnival (Friday 10 – Sunday 12 October)
- 14 Regular Season Rounds
- Semi-Finals (Top 4 teams in each division)
- Grand Finals (Winners of semi-finals)
NEW FOR SUMMER 25/26:
A combined U14/U16 Girls Competition has been introduced to improve competition quality and create better development opportunities. This will now been known as Junior Girls. In this age group teams can be made up of solely U16 players, U14 players or a mix. As there are two age groups combined, there will be a larger number of divisions and teams will be placed into the appropriate division through the grading carnival.
Club trials will help us put girls into teams with others of similar skill level/development and then club will put teams into grading in a division that we feel is appropriate. Grading carnival weekend will then determine what division teams should be in.
GCJBL will also be implementing a Player Points System to ensure balanced teams and a more competitive, enjoyable experience for everyone. This will largely affect Division 1 teams only and the club will align with this system when selecting teams at trials.
Competitions in the Summer season are run on the following days for the following age groups:

PLAYON! SPORTS VOUCHERS
A new round of PlayOn! Sports Vouchers (formerly FairPlay), worth $200, are now available to claim and these can be put towards some of the cost of the upcoming Summer Season fees.
‼️ IMPORTANT ‼️ If you are wanting to use a PlayOn! Sports Voucher towards Summer 25/26 registration, you will need to email the voucher through to the club ([email protected]) before you register.
You will then be provided with a discount code to use when registering your player/s. The discount code will need to be applied before checking out and making payment.
VOLUNTEER EOI
Our club relies on parents/siblings to coach and manage teams. Without these volunteers, we simply cannot enter teams, and it means that players cannot play.
Don’t let lack of experience or confidence hold you back from getting involved. Training and support are available for both coaches and managers. Getting involved is a very rewarding experience for yourself and the players you coach.
This year, we are asking all those willing to coach or manage a team to complete an Expression of Interest form here: https://forms.office.com/r/GM9jHP52dh
Once registrations close, we will then reach out to potential interested coaches with additional information. After trials, we will contact those who have volunteered to be a team manager with further information.
HEAT TRIALS
Our Summer trials will be held on Saturday 6th September at Tallebudgera Recreation Centre.
With the adjustments to the summer season structure and players moving up age groups for the new season, the club will be running trials to select teams and ensure players are playing in the appropriate division for the ability/skill level.
Please see the times for respective age groups below. Players should arrive a minimum of 15 minutes before their trial time.
It is expected that players will be available to attend trials. Trials ensure we place players into the appropriate team for their skill/ability level.
If you are unable to make trials, you must obtain an exemption by emailing [email protected] (Please include your child’s name, date of birth and reason for exemption).
‼️IMPORTANT‼️ If you have information that you want the club to be aware of at trials, when selecting teams, it must be communicated in writing to the club before trials. No information will be considered once teams have been selected. Please send through an email to [email protected]
Players must be registered to trial for Heat Basketball Club. No unregistered players will be able to trial.
UNIFORMS
Full uniform is required for the Summer season – Heat reversible singlet and shorts. Note, singlets must have the GC logo on them. If you have an older singlet – no logo & a different shade of red – you are required to purchase a new uniform. If you are unsure if you are in the correct uniform, you can check on trial day.
Online Store
Uniforms and merchandise can be pre-purchased in our online store and collected on trial day: https://heatbasketball.com.au/shop-online/
- Singlet $60 (Reversible)
- Shorts $40
Singlet Numbers
We know players like to choose singlet numbers. However, unfortunately we cannot accommodate custom singlet number requests. There are limited number options in each size. The club also keeps a player singlet register to avoid singlet clashes within age groups and teams. Numbers will be allocated based on these factors.
TRAINING
Once teams have been finalised, all players will be notified of their team training times.
Training will commence the week beginning Monday 6th October. All training is held at Hillcrest Christian College (Bridgman Drive, Reedy Creek) on a Monday – Thursday afternoon. Training times are largely determined by coach availability.
